Gerard Greene

Principal Clinician - Specialist Male Pelvic Health Physiotherapist

Gerard Greene is a Specialist Male Pelvic Health Physiotherapist with a national and international reputation for managing complex male pelvic health conditions. His work is focused entirely within specialist male pelvic health physiotherapy, and he is one of the few clinicians in this field to have established not one, but two dedicated men’s pelvic health clinics in Birmingham and London. He works with a high volume of men presenting with pelvic pain, erectile dysfunction including Hard Flaccid syndrome, post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence and erectile dysfunction, as well as bladder and bowel dysfunction. Many of the men he sees have already tried multiple approaches before attending, and his role is to provide clarity, explain what is happening, and create a structured plan forward.

His clinical approach is grounded in specialist male pelvic health physiotherapy and integrates pelvic health ultrasound imaging, focused shockwave therapy, advanced clinical reasoning, and detailed musculoskeletal assessment. This allows for more accurate diagnosis, clear explanation of symptoms, and targeted treatment planning, with objective ways to track progress over time. Patients often report that this is the first time their problem has been clearly explained and understood.

Alongside his clinical work in specialist male pelvic health physiotherapy, Gerard is heavily involved in the training and development of physiotherapists and other clinicians, both within the UK and internationally. He delivers specialist education in areas such as male pelvic health, pelvic floor ultrasound imaging, and focused shockwave therapy, and holds an academic role as Assistant Professor of Physiotherapy at Coventry University. His clinical work informs his teaching, and his teaching continually strengthens his clinical practice.

Gerard works closely within a specialist multidisciplinary network, maintaining strong relationships with colleagues in urology, pelvic pain services, colorectal care, psychosexual therapy, sports medicine, and physiotherapy. He has collaborated with organisations including The Pelvic Pain Society and Prostate Cancer UK, contributing to improved awareness, education, and standards within specialist male pelvic health physiotherapy.

He is passionate about improving outcomes for men with pelvic health conditions and reducing the stigma that often surrounds them. Through his clinical work, education, and service development, he continues to advance both patient care and professional understanding within this specialist field.

Outside of work, Gerard has four children and enjoys playing golf (and its challenges), as well as spending time in the gym and pool.
